Don't use an extension...makes it easier to keep the tool on the ring

Just use more force ... if you break the cap just replace it with a new one. no biggie.

30 inch breaker bar works every time....put a BIT of silicone grease on the threads and the face of the ring when you put it back together..makes it easier to get off later.....

Sounds like you didn't have the right tool then. Or it wasn't attached properly. I think those rings are about 40 bucks at the dealership...not bad. Make sure you buy a new rubber seal too and put a little lube on the threads before you reinstall.

With the correct removal tool it literally take 15 mins to swap out the pump.

wd 40 around the ring and through the little holes in the ring..

i had this happen at a track day a couple of weeks ago. everthing was hot.. could not get it to budge.. and i have the right tool, and was using a 1/2 tq wrench..

broke to tabs and let it go..

got home. wd 40, pump in and out in less than 20 min..

and i agree. some silicone grease on the threads on the install for the win..

beers
