housings look nice--wonder if they will ever find a way to stop seal skip --not even a crack around the spark plugs--see that carbon buildup in the deadspace on the lead plug hole? That needs cleaning anytime the plug comes out.
getting closer and closer

Hey guys. Do a compression/idle vacuum test on this one before you give it back to Phil please. I'm trying to decide who I want to do my rebuild.

Not you too!!!!

morkusyambo 11-06-2008 09:00 PM

No, its still running. I have tried to blow it up, believe me.

Trying to blow an engine to have it rebuild and tuned\ported\modded is a honest and proud cause. I'm with you!

Mine was still running, just the compression was going:tear:. Jeff was having trouble tuning it and I had to stand on it just to beat a stock MT, that convinced me it was rebuild time.

I don't see any pics of the irons? How did they look?

rotaryman25 11-07-2008 11:36 AM

Hi Phil, Sorry it took a little longer on my part to get your engine pulled. I cant wait to get the motor back and installed for you. Oh yeah my name is Karl and im the one that works at the stealership that pulled your motor.

Did your ears burn? That was me cussing everyone for the delays. I sure hope when Ray is done that your able to get it in quicker :uhh:. My wife is taking bets on New Years day for the return:eek: :crying: :crying: :tear:. I hope not. Ray and Erick have it torn apart now and with luck it should be together and back to you in another week.

Kane 11-07-2008 12:04 PM

New Years....?!?!?!!? Surely you jest.

I bet Ray has this thing done before you know it; the guy is a workaholic.

Your right there but I keep telling my wife one more week and after all this time with all the delays I find it hard to argue with her. I think I picked a bad time to lose compression. Had this all happened a little later I am confident that he would have completed it in a timly manner.

Kane 11-07-2008 12:20 PM

Don't make me fly out there Ray...... ;)

That would be nice as Friday after (next day) is my birthday.:) :) And he tells me that he is bringing Michelle with him. I think that she is just a figment of his imagination. He never brings her to Vegas. :balls:.

Kane, I'd hate to think that the US Army had to come to his rescue :ar:

Jedi54 11-07-2008 12:34 PM

Kane: there's no water in Vegas, you're gonna look awfully silly in your little shorts and a big scuba mask.

Phil: hopefully this will be a great birthday gift to yourself

Kane 11-07-2008 12:52 PM

No water in Vegas..... hey I just spent 15 months in the desert; the water in my canteen is good enough!!!

Didn't know about your birthday Phil - maybe this whole "delay" thing was Ray's way of waiting for the right time to give it back.... LOLZ

Unless he finds some stuff locally I think that he needs another week to get the stuff in and on the car but it may not effect you. He may be thinking of reassembling the engine and then doing some of the other stuff?:dunno:

Kane, Lot's of water in Vegas!!!! Lake Mead, Lake Mohave, Colorado River.........and we need protection from all those Cali people :lol2:.

Jedi54 11-07-2008 02:13 PM

Something like that........

We only need to port the irons now and we can start the documentation of the clearances, take better pix of the bearings and such, and reassemble the engine. I forgot to check the side seal clearances during disassembly as the seals were falling out all over the place. I maintain my opinion that Mazda built these things with too much side seal gap from the factory, though.

Flashwing 11-07-2008 07:41 PM
