Exhaust Backfire?

Installed new mazdaspeed exhaust and well during hard take offs between shifts there is a pop or pops when the motor down revs.Is this due to the lack of back pressure in the exhaust system now?

Oh no! I'm getting the Mazdaspeed exhaust on tuesday. How loud are these pops? At what rpms do these noises begin to occur? Pease tell me the noise is not bothersome, or will sound like the exhaust the teenie has on his civic down the street.

The new mazdaspeed exhaust doesn't sound like a ricer civic....and I believe the backfiring is something that rotaries are known for...along with throwing small flames out.

Yeah, you are going to have backfires in the mid rpm range if you shift slowly, if you are WOT and on it, shifting fast you will not get less of it. This is just the nature of a very free flowing exhaust system, even piston engines do it, just not as much I don't think as a rotary.
