Engine hesitate at 7250rpm

Dear fellow rx-8 owners,

ok so i actually bought a used rx-8 about a month ago. It was great at first. But recently the CEL came on. I went to a authorised workshop to diagnose it and pulled a code p2008 "imrc circuit malfunction". so they told me something was wrong with the upper intake manifold. so i told them to proceed and check. they disassembled it, check all the solenoids, actuators. all were fine. they said might be one of the solenoids malfunctioning sometimes. ok nevermind, they put everything back, had the code erased. now the problem comes, when i accelerated my car 1st gear till 7250 rpm, it hesitate (although still can rev it to redline, but struggling). same as 2nd gear. which totally slows down acceleration than before. before taking it to the workshop, it was all good. no problems with that. revivng it daily. so i went back and asked them what happened. they said could be bad spark plugs. so is it true that spark plugs had caused this? I had read one of the thread saying it could be the ssv stuck or something. am currently waiting for my plugs to arrived.

They tested all the valves with the hand vacuum and all seems fine. The mechanic is suspecting that the vdi solenoid might be the main culprit. Anyways, bought a used one from ebay. Just hope it solves my problem. Honestly can't sleep well lately. Thanks bse50.

The VDI is not operated by vacuum.

Replacing the solenoid seems reasonable.

Thanks WCS for the helpful info. Just a quick question, does the AIR, SSV and VDI solenoids all look the same?

Hi guys,

I just noticed something on my UIM. Is there suppose to be a hose or something covering the nipple highlighted? could it be causing my car power loss?

Its a little hard to tell as I'm on my phone but I would still say YES!
LoL

Hard to tell if that's the vfad connection or further alone the UIM for the vacuum accumulator.

Yea actually I just realised that its supposed to have a red cap closing off that nipple. Because Im using a racing beat intake (Modded by previous owner) so I didn't know. Guess its the stupid mechanics took it out and misplaced it somewhere. So problem solved, power loss due to that vacuum leak.
