Does Your Engine Hesitate at 7500rpm?
#26
Ok, This has happened to me on 2 to 3 occasions. Accelerates hard up to 7000 something and then bogs and stutters and then starts climbing again. It happened when my fueling was off due to my LPG setup.
The fix in all 3 cases? disconnect the battery this will clear the fuel trims. Connect the battery and then do not start the car. Turn the ignition to the on position and perform the brake pedal stomp procedure until your oil pressure gauge sweeps to the middle and back down again. Turn the key to off and on and then crank the engine. Problem solved. If this doesn't work then start looking into other issues.

So I just bought an 04 rx8 6mt with 108k miles. Compression tested good, just replaced the clutch. My car also hesitates at 7500 rpm exactly and the brake stomp method isn't working for my car. However it smells funky in the drivers seat could it be a clogged cat?I just changed coils so I know its not ignition based and I have no misfires and a smooth idle. But this darn hesitation ruins my accel. Please help, anyone!
Take it off and check it. Most likely. It's all broken into parts in there. The sooner. You do it the better.

Just thought I'd give everyone an update. The previous owner of my car somehow mixed the vacuum lines up. I put them back to their correct position and the car runs amazing. No hesitatoon. No power loss. Thank God it wasn't anything serious

Mine used to do that after I had some work done the vdi and ssv hoses were mixed up...there is diagrams online but basically on the ivdi is the bottom middle ssv and top is air pump they are the three little hoses that connect behind the manifold
