I got my A/C amp replaced & it still doesn't produce cold air. The damn dealer ship didn't even test it after they replace the damn A/c amp. I didn't test it that day I got the car back because it was damn cold!Going to bring it back to dealership after I pick up my car from the audio shop.Dman A/C been giving me alot of problems. It never works when it's hot & all of a sudden it works when you don't need it!

I took my 8 in for the a/c TSB and told them it would cycle cold/hot/cold/hot repeatedly. They replaced the a/c amplifier but said it continued to have the same problem. My service ticket says they contacted the tech line and were told to replace the evaporator and expansion valve, which they did, and I would say the result is much better.
That said, I still don't think this a/c is the strongest part of this car. With such a small cabin, you'd think they could turn it into a freezer if they wanted. We'll see just how good the a/c is as it goes through a real Florida summer (May thru October).

Klegg--I sort of had the same problem. My a/c is mediocre, but when I tried to get the TSB done, they did not do it b/c apparently the TSB also says that if you turn on Recirc and put the a/c on its coldest setting, and it in fact pushes out cold air, then there's no problem and the dealer should not make the fix.

The only way to fix it is to buy a heat shield:
Tube or Wrap

Place it over the A/C tube against the firewall. It is the exposed aluminum tube.

Is there a way to fix the link in the sticky TSB thread? It shows the correct address in the text, but takes you to the wrong address. It takes you to

http://www.finishlineperformance.com/rx8/index.html

instead of

http://www.finishlineperformance.com...ins_index.html

Print out the service bulletin and take it along with your car to a dealer. If they value their customers, they will take care of it. If they don't, take it to another dealer. Some dealerships are customer oriented--others are not. Some go strictly by the book--others are more cooperative and helpful. Your objective should be to find one of the "good guys" and then patronize them in the future.

This still needs fixing. The first link doesn't work.

That TSB for the squeaky brakes also says for them to extend the coverage time for the brakes that are squeaking to 36 months or 50,000 miles. This tells me they know they are a problem.

Which Thermotec Product to Order

So many products/possibilities! Can you name which product(s) to order and perhaps the size? Is it the THERMO-SLEEVE? http://www.thermotec.com/products/full/14005/14005.html Do you need to remove the pipe, slip the sleeve over it, and recharge the system? Or, do you use their other THERMO-FLEX, sliced lengthwise, or MICRO LOUVER AIR SHIELD products then taped up with THERMO SHIELD or THERMO SHIELD ULTRA? Thanks!

CEL = New engine???

I just had the check engine light come on this morning and took it into Earnhardt Mazda in AZ. When I get a call from the service guy, he tells me I can pick it up because it needed a new part, I proceed to ask him that part and he tells me he has ordered a new engine?!?!?!

He said there was a service bulletin out that states a problem with coolant leaking into the engine, and that mine had shown some signs....

My questions are this:

First, was there really a TSB that stated this that came out recently?

Second, should I worry about letting them change the engine? Mine has 10k miles but this sounds too good to be true.

Lastly, are there any problems that can come up if I have them do this? Basically, I guess I am asking is what would you all do in this situation?

Thanks in advance for your post!

ok well I've had my car for literally JUST over a year, within days (about 17k). Of course just recently the brakes started squeaking (or maybe they have been but I haven't noticed with my windows up in the winter) AND my steering wheel airbag cover just started rattling. Both are mentioned in TSB's and I made an appointment for next Friday to have them checked out. My question is, what kind've information should I go in there with? Do they HAVE to fix these problems since they're mentioned in the TSB's or is it at their discretion? This is my first time taking it into the dealership since I've gotten it because it's the first real problems I've had with the car, aside from a cracked windshield, but that was from a rock in the road, hardly warranty material. I'm hoping I have no problem and they just do it but if they give me problems, should I fight it?

I also have that annoying rear window rattle that some people seem to have, but that's not in a TSB yet and I'm just going to ask them to look at it.

Also, I'm going to Maple Shade Mazda, anyone have any good/bad experiences with them?

Thanks all
-Greg

It wouldn't hurt to print out the service bulletins that apply to your VIN and take them with you. Some of the service bulletins are more or less mandatory fixes, and some are not. Many of those that are not mandatory, instruct the dealer to verify the problem themselves before applying the "fix". For example, if the dealer doesn't hear the brakes squealing, he may not want to replace the pads under warranty. Some dealers are hard nosed about verifying the problem and others are not. So, you never know how a given dealer will handle some warranty work.

There doesn't have to be a service bulletin for you to ask a dealer to fix something--like your window rattle. If they can verify the problem, they will generally fix it under warranty.

Could this be it? "REAR QUARTER WINDOW GLASS LOCK BECOMES LOOSE"

I thought it might be that but it comes from the rear window area

I took my 8 to the dealership (Maple Shade Mazda) and asked them to look at 3 things:

1. Rattle from driver-side airbag cover on steering wheel
2. Brake Squeak
3. Rattle from rear window

Well, they fixed the brake squeaking so that's good. They couldn't recreate the rattle from the airbag (probably because it only happens at speeds of 55+). And they tried to fix the rattle from the rear window but it's still there. This is by far the most frustrating thing because after reading the forums, other people definitely have the same problem and yet, there is still no fix.

Hello All,

I could use some help, Rosenthal's sight (http://www.finishlineperformance.com...ins_index.html) used to have a PDF which discussed the free maintanence schedule / contract some early pre-order members opted for when the horsepower was incorrectly stated. Does anybody have a copy of this document?

Thanks in advance,
-BV
