It feels much better than it used to, and the misfire is definitly gone. The CEL is not coming on at all anymore, and the car is stronger.

I asked one of the mechanics at the dealership and they told me not to bother with it. If the plugs got fuel on them will they burn it off as the engine runs?

How would your plugs get fouled from a couple days of misfiring? At $23 a peice, the first thing he would do if he was worried about them is to take them off and clean them. Ive seen rx8's get deflooded and keep their plugs with the car working with no problems. I would assume flooding would foul them more.

This may be a similar problem, but today I drove up to the dragon. Pushed it mostly on 2nd gear. Bounced it of the redline about 4 to 5 time within maybe a mile or 2 in between. By the tim I got up maybe 9 miles, I was on second pushing and I felt a slight stutter. By the next curve I pushed it again on second and it hesitated! I looked at the temp gauge and it was a little passed the halfway mark. After that I let off. I then proceeded to finish at the 12th mile and tried to push it once more, again it hesitated, then almost stalled. I parked let it cool down and then came back down the mountain.
Once all the way down the mountain it seemed fine, but then I had to stop for traffic, when I took off to gun it again it hesitated big time! I took it easy the rest of the way home keeping it at or below 4 rpm.
Once I got on the streets near home I tried to take it over 4 to 5 rpm, then it stalled, I mean completely shut of. After easily starting it back up, I swear it ran like a champ. Grant it, I didn't take it for a long ride, but, I punched 1st till it redlined without any hesitation.

Would this be considered the same problem, or maybe the secondaries or something?

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks!

You have to remember this car runs pig rich.
When you open her up and run her hard the mechanic is correct.
You will burn off that crap,. (if you haven't waited too long)

This means you can get misfires cels hesitations

Unless it is a consistant cel at normal driving conditions the car is fine

So, basically we're coo. That even explains the stall?

Mazda did tell me that, you have to de-carbonize them every so often. the dude even explained their method. All they do is run a couple hundred miles back and forth on the highway, 79--80mph on 3rd. to de-carb.

So what my 8's experiencing are the symptoms of de-carbonization?

All you need to do is redline once every other day after fully warming up your engine to help remove carbon. Your engine is most likely not filled with carbon. You could always seafoam your engine if you are worried about it. Honestly, since you were pushing the car in second up hill, and your temp gauge was above halfway, it seems like you were running hot. Check your airfilter to see if it is clogged or dirty. It also could have been from the prolonged 2nd gear use that caused the hesitation and stalling. It does take a long time for the engine to completly cool down. If it continues happening, I would check spark plugs, wires, coils, and air filter first. General maintanence goes a long way.
