Dealer Certification woes
I asked my dealer to certify my used 8, they came up with almost 1500.00 of mostly needless "repairs" including 800.00 for a set of tires, a "required" 30,000 mile service (360.00), a new battery (150.00). They want me to buy an extended warranty from them instead. Thoughts? Anyone familiar with what the "real" Mazda certification requirements are (I can't seem to find them anywhere..)
Thanks!
Thanks!

What did you get for the 30k service?
As for the tires, just buy kuhmos spt for about a lil over 100 dollars each.
Maybe i dont understand but why are you getting it certified? Are you selling. Why buy an extended warranty then? Plus how many miles do you have on your car?

battery 150 duh.
the service required for the 30k mile check is in the owners manual.... you can do it all yourself... the only thing that most would not want to do is change the oil in the diff and trany... not 360 bucks worth..

I just purchased the 2004, car has about 24K miles. The Mazda 100,000 mile powertrain warranty sounds very good, that is why I would like to get certified. I think I found some used snow tires that will help, and I will buy a battery myself, so I just have to get around the 360.00 for the 30K service, maybe better than spending all that $ for a warranty from a third party?

I don't know much about the Mazda certification program, but I do know that BMW requires 4 matching tires, over a certain tread depth, etc. I also believe they have to be the same tire, or similar to the ones that come on the car from the factory to qualify as certified.
Check on the Mazda USA site...it explains what is required.
