Question Dead Spot Encountered

Hi, Gang
I have a question about a power loss issue that didn’t quite sound the same as the three threads on the subject I have just skimmed through. My power loss comes when I bring my 8 up to 8 grand in a gear and then shift to the next higher gear. RPM’s usually drop to about 6 grand or so when I engage the next higher gear but here is a flat spot when engaging and attempting to continue my acceleration. (I hope I'm explaining this right)
Note; I am not doing this with a cold engine and this is not a sputter. More like a dead spot for a second as if the additional ports are closing and then opening. I have read things about problems with coil pack. Could this be an ingition problem?
All other operations seem normal and the dead spot only lasts a second or two,,, or till the RPM’s clime over 6,250.
Any Ideas?
Regards,
Grey

shift at 9- the drop in rpms wont take you into that port opening closing area

So you think it's the ports too. I am wondering,,, if that be the case,,, is there a way of having the ports open up around 4 grand as apposed to in the 6 grand range?
