dead key fob, but new battery doesn't solve it

i seem to have little, pesky problems here and there lately! my original key fob for my '04 stopped working. i picked up a new battery thinking that was the problem, but it doesn't work. am i missing something? do i have to reprogram it after the battery goes dead? i guess it could be a more serious problem, i was just thinking the battery was obvious. def got the right battery, CR2025, only difference is the brand name...any suggestions? out of warranty so don't want the dealer to mess with it unless they have to.

^^ so you don't think it's the battery? sorry, just that the battery cost 3.50, so the cheaper the better. don't want to buy a new key fob unless i have to.

I've had both of my stock ones that came with the car die...and I've tried new batteries and re-programming them to no avail.....

I think it is a common problem..at least 2-3 of our club members have dead ones as well

I'd verify that the replacement battery was not dead before tossing the remote. Don't you have a 2nd remote that is working? Swap the known good battery to validate. And make sure the contacts are actually making contact and no corrosion, etc... Or at least test the replacement battery.

^^ good advice. no, the remote that just died was my last good one, so other than the "new" store bought battery, i don't have any way to test it...i guess i'll just save up for my flip-key...
