dash gone crazy under acceleration
hey, im new to post but have bin using the search button frequently to find answers . today i had an issue which leaves me stumped for what to search for.
i was cruising and got on the highway took a hard turn in 3rd revved out to 9k and shifted to 4th. when i looked down at the dash all the lights were on, the oil pressure gauge was on 0 and after a second the lights went off except for the battery light and check engine(which is always on cuz im catless). any ideas on what this is has it happened to anyone else? if there's already a thread about this i apologize for wasting a tread but i have no idea what to search for.

Battery connections. Remove the negative, remove the positive, clean the clamps and the posts of all corrosion AND all coolant residue, reconnect positive, reconnect negative. Make sure they are seated firmly when you reconnect.
What likely happened was at redline you started spewing coolant out of the overflow, onto the fans where it was getting sprayed around, and it momentarily shorted your battery. I have had that happen before while I was diagnosing a cooling problem. Coolant will greatly accelerate your battery terminal corrosion as well, so there is almost certainly some corrosion there.

Your ECU may have reset. I've had mine "crash" a couple times over the years. Hook up an OBD2 reader and be prepared to see a couple U**** codes. I've had it happen with hardly any load on the engine at all... once right after an ECU flash while at idle. It's pretty spooky when it happens.

Yes, the momentary ECU 'crash' can be caused by a few things, including a battery connection that ever so briefly wiggled free, or a splash of conductive liquid between the terminals to short the battery load for an instant, etc...
Very spooky. My last one that it did this was across a WOT4th gear let off into a throttle blip downshift into 3rd gear at an indicated 90mph, about 200ft before a sharpish left hand highway exit ramp curve. Momentarily lost power steering, the brake pedal started pulsing weirdly as the ABS was getting screwed with....
A bit of a pucker moment.

I would've shat shards! lol ... that's actually one of my biggest fears ... she'll reset while I'm doing something I shouldn't be doing at way too high of a speed... I've also wondered what the result would be under boost.
