crunching/grinding sound when turning at slow speeds
ok so i just got my 2005 metallic blue rx8 last month (AT) and I love it.
I bought it from the dealer knowing it had an issue: it has a weird slight grinding noise and slight vibration when you turn at a slow speed (below 15 mph).
I've taken the car in for its bumper to bumper warranty and got lots of issues taken care of, including new engine mounts, the ECU flash, a plastic molding piece replaced, and the rear window seals were tightened. The dealership claimed that the cars alignment and the rear window being loose caused the vibration and sound. This apparently was not the case.
I am afraid the original owner bent the cars cvu joint or whatever on the rear axle
the car is going back in this friday
does anyone have any advice?

Maybe this is your problem even though it was a 2004 problem:

You're welcome. Since you are new to this forum, I would suggest that you do some surfing and reading. For example, all or most of the service bulletins and recall notices are available from a sticky link in this section. There is a wealth of information in the DIY section as well. Good luck getting your problem resolved.

update:
i drove around with bob penkhus supposed "master" rx8 mechanic to show him the problem after a failed attempt at fixing it. they replaced the rear axle fluid and now i have only felt it very lightly a couple times, the difference is totally there and noticable.
however, im wondering why there is still a tiny amount of "drag/grind" when turning at parking lot speeds. it only happens rarely now, too.
