Power!!
Just thought I'd say thanks a year later this started happening to me. The light comes on when I start the car but 2 minutes later it goes off. I'll be adding coolant tomorrow morning.

Well, have you ever checked the 'float sensor' in your water tank? I had this coolant warning light on and off and finally, I took out my water tank, filled it up with water and I found out the float sensor didn't float on the water level as it suppose to be. I have no idea how can it be broken but no choice, gotta change the water tank.

ok i too have a similar problem, i had an intermitten coolant light goin on preferably in higher rpms for extended periods of time.........u know what had happened, the pulley that turned the water pump, the bearings on one side partially seized.......so the pulley was turned in one side........nearly snapped the belt.......realized this after an intermitten coolant light on the freeway pulled over, and smoke started comin from under my hood......indeed it was the pulley......so check n make sure ur bearings didnt seize.....

I think when the weather gets cold, this intermittent "coolant light" thing tends to happen more often.
Last time this happened, I poured a couple of ounces of bottled water (that which was left in the bottle I had been drinking from) into the reservoir, and that did the trick. Apparently the sensor is very sensitive!
It's happening to me again this week, so I'll have to do the same thing in the next day or two...

I had my coolant light come on 2 weeks ago while cruising down the highway. I put in a 50/50 mix into the reservior and haven't had an issue since. It was at night so I really couldn't see how much I was putting in. She sure was thirsty though, so I'm glad I paid attention to the warning and added some more. No issues since. I'm at 36k miles.

I have the same problem here downunder with the coolant warning light car has done just 60,000km , does anyone have a DIY on how to fix this , getting the new sensor shouldnt be a problem fitting it thats another thing .
UPDATE SINCE MY POST
Spoke to my dealer the problem seems to be with the Tank sub radiator part number in OZ is N3H1-15-350 H (credits to Gomez and ddb )it comes as a complete unit so you cannot just replace a sensor .
, apparently the problem with the sub radiator tank is that it gets cracked ( HAIRLINE ) due to the heat and pressure its under .
The mounts the sub tank is sitting on seem to be part of the cause .
Seems they have carried out this job on various RX8 , cost for parts here in OZ is $ 327+ fitting

Meh, if the nipple is that brittle it's probably a good idea to replace the radiator. Plus where do the shavings go when you drill a hole in it? But yeah, if it were $50.00 it would be worth a shot.

The replacement of the bottle here in Singapore cost about double the price of this kit(including labour charges). Moreover, the same problem may come again. The installation of this kit is simple and does not require any dismantling of the bottle or pipe.
I was concern about the shavings too when I was drilling the hole. To my surprise, the shavings came out in 5-6 pieces outside the tank. Guess this was due to the design of the drill bit which supposed to evacuate the shavings out of the driven hole.
The interface module actually conducts self-test in every startup by blinking the birdcage light on the dash for about 10 secs just to assure the driver that it is still alive.

Your location doesn't show under your username so I guess if it cost that much to you guys then it makes sense. The shavings still would worry me but if they came out with the bit then you got lucky I guess. As for it happening again, that is probably not an issue since most don't have the issue until their cars are pretty old.
