Unhappy Clutch Problems ... Limp ... Squeak ?

So a week or two back I noticed my clutch making a bit of a squeaking noise.
I searched this on here and it seems like several other people have this issue.
I didn't think much of it so I just let it be.
A few days ago I noticed my clutch pedal wasn't all there.
It was like the first 10% of the clutch press was gone ... like there is only 90% pedal.
The first 10% if just resistance-less.
This got a little bit worse during the next few days ... like maybe 15% pedal resistance-less.
Im driving last night and go to shift from 1st to 2nd and it goes really limp.
It goes 80% to the floor before there is any resistance. And It sticks there when I release the pedal. I have to manually pull the clutch pedal back up with my foot.
I can still go through gears fine but I don't want to drive it this way.
It's just really sticky ... Any ideas ?
Fluid ?
Thanks in advance, Logan.

So when I was home for lunch break I noticed the clutch has a lot of side to side play ... The clutch pedal is nearly touching the brake pedal ... Im assuming the bracket is broke or something ... I bought my car with 60,000 miles on it and now it has 61,xxx ... It's an 04 mt ... Any chance this will be covered under warranty or any chance there is a TSB for this ?

sounds like a broken weld on the pedal.
Unfortunately you're out of warranty and there is no TSB on it.

I'll get you a link with pics of the welds so you can verify the problem but I'm almost certain your pedal is toast

Here's a thread, make sure you report the pedal to the NHTSA. (link in 1st post)
Look at post 162 by kwescott for pics
Post 249 also has some great pics.

As for fixing the problem, you're best of contacting Charles R. Hill, he sells brand new Mazda pedals which he has reinforced welds made to make sure they won't break again. I've had it on my car for about 10 months since my pedal started cracking last month.

It was a broken clutch pedal/bracket. I removed it the other day and ordered a new one yesterday. I'm going to have my local welding shop make the new one a little bit stronger. I have a friend there who is amazing at welding. The clutch pedal comes out really easy with just 4 screws. Thanks for the help guys.

I work at a weld shop... it may have been possible to repair your old pedal before ordering a new one.

I just welded a couple of clutches for the other 8s in the area... the BHR clutch is way way way overkill. A little bit of weld on that top bracket goes a long way... but if you already ordered it, that is a good way to go also. Make sure they TIG weld it as MIG could be too much heat into the clutch and actually weaken it causing it to crack again.

Could you post a pic of where you old pedal failed?
