SK Clutch problems

A little background. I have purchased a 2004 RX8 about 10 months ago. The clutch has been perfect up untill now. Im not sure when this clutch was installed. The care has 116,000 kilometers on it. I was at a stop light when the car started to creep ahead. I just applied a little more break and thought nothing of it. I drove about a block and shut the car off. I restarted the car and drove off with no problems. Approximatly 4 blocks , anonther light, this time I pushed in the clutch and the car would not slow down. I had to shut the car off with the key to get it out of gear and of course no luck getting it back in gear with the car running. My clutch pedal is fine, no cracks or signs of fatigue and has been adjusted. I replaced the clutch slave cylinder and bled the clutch release cylinder. Still no luck. Has anyone had this happen? Ive read all posts and havent come accross a problem similar to this. Can the clutch just go without any previous slipping or warning?? My closest dealership is over 70 miles away and was hoping not to have it towed there. Would it be the clutch release cylinder? Any help would or advice would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Charles, I removed the clutch pedal to get a close look. There are no cracks or undone welds at the base. I have checked some of the pics posted and mine seems perfect. I checked to make sure that the pushrod was engaging the slave cylinder. When the clutch pedal is in the rest position the pushrod is just making contact with the piston in the slave cylinder. I have adjusted it as per some of the posts. The dealer wants close to 2,000.00 to install a new clutch. I was really hoping to avoid that, but may not have a choice. I really appreciate your help and advice. Thanks

Ok, sounds like a great idea, I will get that bracket. Yeah the way it is now Charles, with car running I can't even get it into any gear with the clutch depressed. Have you heard of the clutch release cylinder giving problems?? I could understand the clutch failing under extreme driving, but thats not been the case with mine, it just stopped allowing me to put it into gear when the car was running at a stop light, very odd. Thanks again Charles.
