I own a 04 mt rx8 w/ 49.9k miles on it. Drove it this afternoon about 15 miles and the car ran just fine. Car sat about 5 hrs and when I started it, the CEL went on and it wouldn't go past 3k rpm. Drove it all the way home unable to go past 35mph w/ an average of 20-25mph most of the trip.

Are you going to check the CEL?

 

yeah i planned on taking it to autozone tomorrow to get the code checked

 

Limp Mode...there are a few things it could be...

MOP, Drive by Wire system..throttle or Acc pedal

See what the CEL is and get back here

Well, after letting the car sit again for a bit it drove just fine and the CEL went off on its own. If the CEL goes on again ill take it to autozone asap as long as theyre still open near my house.

 

Maybe ssv valve?

 

Alright so the CEL went on again this morning and i took it to autozone and then it wouldnt start up. Checked the battery ended up being bad and still wouldnt start even after jumping it. The codes read on the CEL were 2258x2, 2260x2 and 2102. They told me these are mazda factory codes and were unable to pull it up on the system.

heres a sticky that came from the tech garage all codes are listed on the first post, now figure out what you have

 

P2258 AIR pump relay control circuit high ON 2 CCM

P2260 AIR solenoid valve control circuit high ON 2 CCM

^i guess dannobre guess it right

 

searched through some threads and it said that the codes could be caused by a flat battery. So hopefully the charge he puts on my battery fixes this will post back after i go back to get my car. thanks dozer for the help

 

car is up and running again after getting the battery recharged and terminals cleaned out a bit. only about 50 miles so far since then so not too sure if the CEL will go off again. Will post back if it does. Thanks again for the help.
