CD Play Blues....

Well I got my RX-8 a little over a week ago, and although I am already in love with the car, I am having quite an issue with the CD player. It is just a single disc, sadly, but that isn't the issue. It skips. No matter whether the CD is burnt, or bought, it skips. I've put a cleaner disc in, and it helped, but it still skips in nearly EVERY song. As you can imagine this is getting unbelievable annoying. If anyone can give me some sort of advice, I would love to fix this problem.....

Read errors, probably from a dirty laser lens. Keep running that cleaner disc until you get all the gunk off. If that fails then the lens is probably misaligned and there's nothing you can do but replace the player. These devices are so cheap (and cheaply made) that there's no one around that'll fix it so replacement is the only option.

I've run the cleaner CD countless times, but I'm beginning to think you are right, that I will need to replace the player. Thank you though!

I'm a new 8 owner as well, and I have had that problem too, but not so much serious as yours.. Where did you buy your cleaner cd at?

I got mine at F.Y.E. It was only about ten bucks... I wish it would have worked. Hopefully it does for you!

Lol, I've never even heard of that place, its like 11 miles away.. I'll probably check it out now if I got time. And not every cd does it, just some songs towards the back of a cd are usually the ones susceptible to it, and every song is targeted by bumps and reflectors in the road

That sucks! Usually any CD play will carry them. Yeah, mine doesn't like bumps in the road either.... And Mazda wants 300 bucks to "rebuild" mine. Sigh...

o dude mines almost every single bump big or small. when it first started is went the dealership took out my tranny to fix my syncros and it kept on doing it they tried to fix it I even went to Mazda USA to try to get help but they didn't do much. I was mad but it didn't get anywhere so I just left it at that havent gone back to walser mazda. Its funny cause i work at a luther dealership and I get 50% off on parts but at walser I still get a better price its sad I would say.

maybe the other place has cheaper parts lol. but its such a disappointment even for a single disk player.. that should have the most supreme quality. but its still a good car. if worse comes to worse, i can always just listen to the engine

6 disks/multiple disk players should be standard. Less risk of an acciedent. Believe me, even I gotta change cds while I drive. Pretty soon they'll have some laws out here in cali about changing cds along with the cell phone laws..

Hahahaha yeah, probably. I'm honestly surprised they didn't come standard. My base has the outward appearance of a 6 disc, and I was rather upset when I found out it was just a single.

i think thats just what it looks like lol. it would be cheaper to just do everything one thing.. i know it might cost them more to produce at the factory, but then everyone gets the same thing, and they dont have to do everything separately, and it'd be more efficient, but oh well, im not Mazda

Ya know, maybe you should be a part of Mazda, because I am a fan of that idea...

Better yet, switch out to the single disc MP3 player. You can put as much music or more on a single disc as on all six in the multi-disc player. Plus it doesn't skip (at least mine doesn't).

thus limiting the production of cds, reducing the use of whatever material that is, haha, maybe we should both be a part of mazda but i hate trying to look through a whole mp3 cd.. but thats a better way at being environmentally friendly, unlike the cash for clunkers thing last year. i remember it, but it was just today i found out what they did to those cars. they blew the engines, scrapped as much as they can, excluding the engine, and crushed the hull/rest of car after the 90 days was up. i like cars, so it was pretty hard for me to watch.. and then they did a supra...... i dont like to think about it. AND a Buick GNX!!

back ot, mp3 players would be nice.
