Cat-converter
Hi
I was just wondering if there's a way to check if the cat's all clogged up?
Is it visible if u take it off?
Im not sure but it feels like my car is a bit down on power, like its not as crazy on the higher rpm's.
When Ì bought it it felt like it took _no-time_ from 5krpm to the redline, then especially in 1gear. now It feels like i have quite a bit of time. Doesnt feel as urgent if u get me..
I have had my engine replaced 3k ago. Before that i struggled with very hard starts and i suspect the dealer struggled much and for quite a while with this starting problem. They even said that fuel/oil where coming out the exaust and that the battery had to be charged very often when they where diagnosing.
So they have tried to start the car veerrry many times, which is understandeble enough but it goes out on the cat...
This then means they have very possibly taken many years of life from my cat or what?
So it isnt a big shot in this case to suspect it could be clogged.
Any Ideas on this?
(Id like to have it running properly even if it should pass the emissions test and so on)

yeh ill go chat with them but seriously they have no idea of what a new rx8 would go like.. Lets just hope they can see its fucked if they take it off.
Ive got another issue id like to ask'em about to is the starting, kinda feels like the startmotor aint goin its best.
Is the rx8 suppose to start like a normal working regular engine?
Mine takes about 2 sek before it gets there, is that normal? I dont think my battery or starter ever has been changed, i know there are some issues there but they said they tested it when before I had my engine replaced.
Any feedback on that?

if it has never been change, and its still under warranty, change them.
u're in norway so u might want to check and see if its free to do so.
mine fires usually in less than 1 second, but sometimes after running it for an extended period of time it might take 2-3 seconds to start. Both Old and Newer faster starter.

There once was a TSB about flooding that replaced battery for a larger capacity battery and a starter motor that would spin the engine faster. Maybe this is what you are looking for. I don't know if this applies to your area. These, TSBs, are issued by Mazda North America. You may get more help on the Europe forum here or a European Mazda forum closer to you. How far away is your nearest dealer, Oslo?

There are 2 dealers within 20-30minutes from me.. Stavanger
Ive only been to one of them and they have been friendly and helpful enough.
Its just that they've got very little experience with rotaries..
They said that they had tested the battery or at least the starter when they where diagnosing the bad starting issue before I got the new engine..
Im pretty sure most of the TSB's "over there" apply here also, if the issue should occure..
I will take it in and tell'em there have been issues with the battery and starter and get them to test it, just feels a bit lame to be "starting" in a few seconds.. if its like this with everyone then hey its ok, but i wont be running with anything then 100% while the guaranty is still in place =>
the car has gone 67k km and the engine 3k km, the guaranty is 100k right? but will the new engine run within guaranty til the clock hits 164k ??
