car starts and dies
tonight i was leaving a parking lot and my car stalls. i have an AT so it was kinda weird. i started it back up and went driving down the road when i lost a lot of power. i was able to pull off into a parking lot. i tried restarting it a couple times and it will start but then just dies again.
i tried disconnecting the air pump. also tried disconnecting the battery to reset the computer and same thing happened.
i have previously had my car parked for about an month and a half. someone warned me about the gas but i didn't really listen.
does anyone know what the problem might be? clogged fuel filter? i left it in the parking lot so i will have to get it towed. should i tow it to a dealer or my house and change the fuel filter?

no cat. i'll have it towed to a dealer tomorrow and see what they say.
i really hope its not coils/plugs/wires, i want to get the BHR set instead.
i went back and started it again tonight. it ran a little longer. it will rev up but if i let it idle, the RPM's will keep dropping and then it dies. i really think its a fuel system problem. looking like i'll have to replace the whole fuel pump assembly.

nuke0907,
Did you drive it? It happen to me before and now, everytime I disconnect the battery. You need to keep the rev about 2K RPM, let it Idle and slowly and carefully drive the car. The car may die a couple of time while you drive it, but it will learn slowly. What happen to my car now is that once in a while, it will deep below 500 RPM and the car feel like it is going to die then it rev itself back up and hold the RPM at about 850 RPM. All this happen when I first change out full set of OEM Coils. Thought it was the plugs and wires, so I change them too. Later, my optima battery tested (had it for little over 2yrs) said it return 190-CA. got new one and still have the same issue like yours after replace new battery. The car start up instantly then the Idle drop untill the car die. I took it out, keep my foot on the gas keeping the Idle up, drive it around the block. It now run fine with sometime RPM drop below 500RPM but it will not die.
My car is an 05 with 81K miles.

Im having the same problem with mine, I talked to Mazda and they want to look at it because they said it might be the loss of power in the engine which my engine is covered under the 100,000 mile warranty. I have an 04 with 74,000 miles on it. Im taking it in tomorrow, if they can figure out what it is ill let you know something

05rex8 was right, turns out it was my coils causing misfires. they also said i have a bad MAP sensor which i don't beleive. i'm just gonna get new coils and see if it runs good. they are gonna replace the gas cap that is causing another CEL code. i'm also having them do the MSP-16 while its there.
