Hi, I just bought my 04 rx8 4 months ago. I take good care of it. Change oil regularly ect.
But today I got stuck in traffic where my car started smoking under the driver side door. Then quickly after it would not go any where in any gear. The engine seems fine, it starts and revs fine, but when you shift to a gear you can take your foot of the clutch pedal and it will rev back from 2000 rpms to 1000 rpms with out killing it, but when you rev it up to take off. It goes no where. Please someone help me!

 

How many miles on the car? Transmission won't engage...might be a transmission issue.

 

clutch is gone.

 

It has about 76,000 miles on it, and thanks for the replies.

 

I concur, the clutch is kaput.

 

i would put it in gear. try that first :P

 

Sounds to me like it's your clutch, check out BHR, they'll hook you up.
