Car misfires, can not figure it out, after coils-wire-plugs-pump-catalytic-new motor
Ok, I need some other ideas here. My 2007 is misfiring and I can't find the cause. The story is long and involves a good ******* by the dealership.
My current situation is :
59k on chassis
2k on new warranty motor installed by dealership
5k on catalytic convertor installed by dealership before motor blew
New coils, plugs, wires, and fuel pump.
Rough idle and nasty misfire - car will not stall though
The car consistently throws codes on start up, and at the same exact places along my route when I do drive it. Five seconds after starting the car, I get a flashing CEL that stays solid. I then get the CEL again only while leaving my neighborhood, then again after I reach the top of 2 different hills. I definitely think the CEL is not coming on until I release the throttle.
Codes are P0300 and P0301, the misfire is obvious and noticeable along the low end of the power band more so than the the top, although I still feel it up top. I have tried 3 or 4 sets of coils, including a set of GM coils which I uninstalled after installation because I still had a miss with THEM, and feared I had installed them improperly despite my proficiency with prior electrical jobs.
The current coils have been tested with the spark plug tester someone here on the forums mentioned, and all coils tested similar, I think the spark looked a little weak from all of them, but I'm not sure if that's really the case. The fuel pump is brand new, and was replaced after the dealership said they thought that was the cause....they were wrong.
The catalytic convertor is currently dropped out of the car while I'm doing a clutch job, and the honeycomb shows no sign of damage at all. I was concerned that it would be damaged already from the 2k miles of misfiring driving I've already had to do, but it looks ok. It still may be screwed up, as I'm not really able to look through it, but it has some bends in it, so I need to try harder with a light.
Of other interesting note, when I took my car back from the dealership, my front speaker was blown. I mention this only because I don't want to rule out the potential that the dealership shorted something out, blowing my speaker, and maybe something else as well. Whenever I start the car, I get a crackling from the speaker that seems to be timed with the CEL coming on. It's only on start up, but I thought I should mention it.
That's most of what I can think of, hopefully just writing it all down might help me, or maybe someone else here has experienced a mystery misfire like this.

Just the missfire codes?
Have they changed the ESS sensor? Is the trigger wheel straight...is the front pulley wobbling at all...look when someone rev's the car?
Sounds like you have a problem with the trigger signal...so either the sensor or the wiring to the ECU or to the coils....or the ECU itself?
