car died, security light flashing rapidly, wont start. any ideas>??
so i was driving and my car died. it doesnt try to turn over, all i hear is a click. also my red key light is flashing rapidly for about a minute after attempting to start it, slows down a little for maybe another minute, then goes back to flashing normal. My keyless remote hasnt worked in a few months now either, so i was thinking maybe my car thinks its stolen and the security system is causing this, LOL.. is that possible?? thanks

Start with the basics. Check the battery and connections, clean an charge as required. Also check the tension on the alternator belt and check the charging system once you get it running.

Hate to revive old threads, but I'm having this exact same issue and can't seem to find any other advice. For the OP, did you get the problem fixed? What happened and what did it take?

There is a very high chance that the chip on ur key went dead. I seen it
takes 5 minutes for dealer to program a new one, u just have to get the right new blank chip(make that 2), take the one out from ur old key, install new, take car to dealer (or whoever can program PATS like me) and 5 minutes later u should be good.

Having the same issue, although slightly different..
Having a similar issue:
Was cruising along today 25mph, 3000 revs, for no apparent reason all dash lights came on and odometer and speedo dropped to zero although engine was still running, was going in a straight line road was dry.
Switched off and got the rapidly flashing security light, engine refused to turn over. After 10 minutes re-tried starting and it fired up, although CEL and DSC/TCS lights are on.
I have an OBD error checker which states codes UO121, UO155, UO167.
similar reported issues are:

I have checked all fuses that you can visually check and all are fine, no work has been done on the vehicle recently and the only reason i've gone in the engine bay is to check the oil.
In the last 3 days since then it sometimes starts first time without issues, sometimes i get the security light which takes 5 mins to switch off (after which it starts fine)
Any thoughts?
possibly an issue with the ignition receiver module?
any one seen this before and fixed?

how to reset security light flashing
All you have to do to reset the security light after a dead or changed battery is turn the key to the ON position (do not start) and tap on the brake pedal about 20 times, or until the oil pressure gauge moves up to about ½way. This worked on my 04 the first time I tried it.
