instrument cluster died and immobilizer flash's
Ok --need help.
I have an 2009 R3. It has the advanced key set up.
I cranked the car all was fine. I shifted into reverse and the instrument cluster died except the immobilizer constant 2 sec flash started. I drove the car a little ways and turned it off.
Of course--now nothing.
The engine will not turn over--the dash doesnt work except for the constant 2 sec security key flashing.
The lights, radio, power windows, door locks, all work fine.
The car unlocks and locks like it is suppose too with the advanced key.
The regular key (the one inside the advanced key) once inserted into the ignition makes NO difference.
The battery has 11.9 volts measured with meter.
All fuses are good--yes the 120V one is good also. The battery connections are tight and clean.
The remote battery appears good--no problems with range in locked unlocking doors etc.
I get codes of U0155 and U0167---well yea--so that didnt help me?
I thought well maybe the reverse switch on the trans shorted? But all fuses are good.
Would that make the dash cluster die?
I though maybe ecu has died but would this happen while the car is running --and running good? Didnt make sense.
I have did the disconnect the battery cable reboot, i have done the reprogram the keyless thingy --all of them did not make any difference.
So do I have any options? Any suggestions?
This sucks.
How can I get the car modules talking to each other again?
Is this a dealership only thing?
I hate this type technology-- nothing but a pita.
Rather just have a key.
Is there anyway to convert this advanced pos keyless thing to a regular key?

uo155 and uo167 are can bus communication error codes. more than likely you need a dealer.
uo155 is literally lost communication with instrument panel. have you had it out?
uo167 is lost communication with the immobilizer. been messin gin the glove box area?
you've lost a relay or you have a wiring problem, or lost the immobilizer itself. you have extra gauges etc getting power etc from under the dash?

water didnt touch bottom of seats--everything repaired.
has been working well for some months.
I had the entire interior stripped out last oct--
only wiring affected was the airbag harness that ran across the floor and along the seat rails. No problem with that now.
What would cause a lost of communication with the dash while the car is running?
Oh forgot to mention---no turn signals--emergency flasher is fine.
High beam and light on indicator in instrument cluster does work. Reminder buzzer works.
????????, Me thinks get the dash to function and it will be ok?
What powers the dash, the pcm?
No-no extra gauges--totally stock R3

FIXED!!!!!!!!!!
Remembering that a fuse could be blown and not LOOK blown, I just started with a last ditch effort replacing every fuse just to see what would happen. I didnt have to buy them--have another 8 down right now.
Working my way through them--I got to the inside fuse box and to the "Meter" 10amp fuse. It looked perfect holding it up to the light. I replaced it and "Blam" --everything works.
I then took a magnifying glass and looked at it and down on the bottom corner-where it starts going up--it was cracked and discolored.
I have never seen that before.
But Karma was good to me--just made me suffer for 2 days.
All is GOOD rx8 wise.

Meter Fuse
Hallo, I had the same problem, it was short, I find and fix that, the meter fuse wire is still getting hot which mean somewhere there is still an issue. My question: to what does the meter fuse supply power. If someone can tell me then it makes it easier to search to get to the problem. Regards
