Caliper Slider Seized!!

Well, this sucks!
I'm in the middle of a brake upgrade (rotors, pads, SS lines) and when I went to install the pads on the front driver'side I noticed the slider was not moving at all

can't get it out, wont' really turn either

I've now taken the caliper off and have soaked some penetrator on it to see if that will help remove the slider

I had this happen just last weekend, I didn't remove the entire caliper. I just sprayed some pb blaster on the slide, let it sit for 20 minutes and used some vice grips to pry it out. Problem once it's seized your really need to buy a new slide, the rubber seal inside is probably pretty f'd. I got my new one from Mazda, 17 bucks, but I found out Advanced Auto or AutoZone both carry the slide for a fraction of the cost. Be sure to use some brake grease when you install the slide again.

took the whole caliper apart, use vice grips to get it out. I'll be ordering new slider screws tomorrow.

Pb blaster is just a penetrating liquid like liquid wrench or one of the others works really well in my experience.
