My a/c compressor is making a ticking noise when the a/c clutch is engaged. it just started yesterday and is fairly loud. the a/c functions fine (still blowing cold, not cycling any different), but i'm getting this "playing card in the spokes" noise whenever the a/c clutch is engaged. i'm really hoping it's not the same problem as this guy https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...3&postcount=15

any insight? i'd really like to fix it without buying a new compressor as $380 is the cheapest i've found, and i don't have the time to delve into a compressor change at the moment. help!

 

 

The belt condition? Inspect tension. No compressor oil leaks? Stick your hand under the AC hoses and feel for oil. Then inspect your condenser for any oil leaks. If the compressor is going bad then only option besides parts store is salvage. Make sure the VIN match there is an early 04 and a late 04-05 compressor.
