blown ign fuse, bad reverse switch?
hello all
so my car shut off as i tried backing out of my parking spot at work the other day. i checked the car over and found the blown ign fuse. i replaced it and drove home.
the next day, the same thing happened as i tried backing out of my driveway. again, replaced the fuse but left the car alone after.
i researched the problem here and found a few ppl had the same issue.
i checked the wiring and connection terminals at the bulbs, everything seems fine. i will check the reverse switch today with a multimeter when i get home and order the switch from atkins rotary if necessary.
i must admit tho, common sense dictates if the reverse switch is disconnected you would be alble to use reverse (minus reverse lights). PLEASE correct me if im wrong. so i tried it
it worked. the 8 fired up and ran fine through every gear including reverse.
out of boredom, i tried it again yesterday and as i depressed the clutch pedal it started to lose power and shut off. fired it up again to the same effect (glad it didnt flood).
so its sitting in the driveway awaiting to be fixed properly. my question is, did it turn off due to the "missing" reverse switch? did i f*ck something else up by trying to bypass the reverse switch?
