Anybody Overheating Out There? I Need To Know.
I want to hear from everybody in the HOT climates and everywhere else that is having an engine cooling issue. Or suspect you are having one.
Watch your temp gauges! Is the Temperature gauge moving? It will when the coolant reaches 231 degrees.
Is the A/C shutting off while in traffic? Blowing HOT all of a sudden? It will when the coolant reaches 231 degrees.
Loss of power in high ambient temperatures?
Have you smelled coolant on a hot day after driving?
I need any and all information related to anybodies car overheating.
Even if you suspect that the car is overheating let me know. Don't be shy.
Please PM me. Post in the thread I don't care I need to know.

Easy, I'm glad to use my question as a bump to your thread and I'm glad that you are as dedicated to Mazda as I am (Not trying to assign blame but help the community at large).
Are you regularly smelling coolant on yours?
Paul.

Actually Paul I have only had the overflow blow coolant out a couple of times last year. That was when they installed the new overflow tank and cap. I have since routed the short overflow line down to the undertray. I haven't seen anything yet. So I can only imaging e how hot it was when that happened.

Day to day, my coolant temp tends to peak at 207 unless I'm really pounding on the car, or accelerating and stopping, repetitively. Then I see 210s. The only time that my temp gauge has moved was at a car control clinic where I would proceed to do a ~45 sec run in first and then returning to line and idling for five minutes. Temp was high 80s and it was decently humid (~70%). Throughout the runs, I got into the high 220s each time, with 234 being the highest. No related problems. I've had my scan gauge unplugged for the last few weeks though, so I haven't kept track of #'s since we've reached the 90s here.

Koyo is *keeping* my temp around 100-107 Celsius. which is WORST THAN STOCK.
Have you tried another Rad ? Maybe BHR's ?

^that sucks, after spending money on a "better" radiator.
No coolant issues yet, I just drove up a windy mountain road today and it was about 85 today and then drove up a %7 grade going 75 just after, no probs.

If anyone happens to have any overheating data, be sure to include any information such as humidity level, outdoor temperature, time day etc.
I took some data from the dashhawk a couple days ago when it was 112 degrees outside. I was seeing coolant sensor readings of 207 - 210 and IAT's of 130 degrees at cruise around 70mph. I believe the humidity was pretty low and it was around 3pm in the afternoon in Phoenix.

Eh, your not the only guy, i watched my temp gauge sweep from normal temp to a couple of ticks left of center in a couple of minutes. I promptly turned the A/C on hot and drove ~60mph and it went back down to normal.

Overheating!!!!!
Hi, My 8 is overheating. I just got it out of the shop 3 days ago, and it had Fans issues. This car has been kept in a warehouse for almost 2 years, so my main issue is humidity. I am in Panama, and dealer here dont know Jack Sh....
I took it to my Electromechanics and he fixed my Fan, opened it and cleand the brushes, and it started to work, but still. Yesterday, my gauge began to go north, so I had to stop the car. The problem this car had b4 was overheating too and its previous owner just didnt want to take care of it so he just stored it and I bought real cheap, opened the engine, and replace all the housing gaskets, like the rubbers, and both Rotors Bearings.
It started immediately once it was put together.
Now, Last nite I took it for a spin, it was relly nice, kool and all and the gauge didnt move from its position.
I am taking the 8 to the EM today, he will do something so the Fans stay on and keep blowing as soon as the car starts. Here in Panama heat is something else, bcause hummidity is too high.
Now, How do U bleed the air from this car?
Tks

You dont need to keep the fan on all time, thats going to kill your battery.
Humidity is a good thing for getting rid of the heat. It does not feel good for humans but its good for cars. As Liquid can carry more heat than thin air but human has feelings so it can sense a lot of heat in the air
To bleed air, what "I" did was
drain coolant (I drain all, some ppl know what ALL means)
Fill it up to the top line
start engine
Run back and keep adding coolant to the top line
when it does not suck coolant in. I leave it like that till the engine warms up (cap off)
when the engine warms up, close the cap and keep the rpm at around 2500 rpm for 5 minutes
Let the throttle off for a minute
Go back and run it at 3500 rpm for about 5-10 minutes
turn the car off, let it cool for maybe an hour or 2
Go back and check coolant level again, top off, then repeat the 3500 rpm again but this time with heater & Fan Turned on MAX
turn it off and let it cool for an hour or 2
after cool off, check coolant level again
You're done
notice, its easier to bleed air if your car is facing UP, so find some up hill to do it. I do my bleed air thing @ my drive way
Also when filling coolant, when I say max that does NOT mean all the way to the top, on the side of the coolant bottle there is a marking that saids "MAX" Its hard to read I know, but get used it to
