CEL Diagnosed with P1688 service guys have no idea HELP !!!!!!!!!!
Ok this is probably the 4th time the car came with a solid CEL and to limp mode. I drove the car about 2 hours with interval of 20 mins once during that 2 hours . I parked the car went to buy a dvd, came out and started the car no problem, I pulled up and the cel came up solid and went to limp mode restricting rpm to 3000. Then i pulled over , turned engine off and started again after 5 mins, i was fine took up to 9000 rpm no problem but CEL remains. Outside temp is about 85 . I cant go to the dealer for another week to check the error code. So far i have changed
engine mounts
clutch plate/ pressure plate
Coils
Plugs
Air Filter
Cleaned MAF
Checked ALL electrical points of the car excluding the EPS (no one here understands it)
changed all these 5 weeks ago , drove abt 600 miles.
Do you guys think its safe to drive like this for a week until i take it in to check the code?

If the CEL on your car works the same way as North American RX-8s, then yes it is safe to drive with the solid CEL. When it is blinking, that can mean something more serious is wrong, but solid won't lead to any damage.
Another piece of info, again assuming your car works like ours do. Certain faults detected by the ECU will cause the CEL stays on solid. It will stay lit for a while even if the fault is not detected again. After a few complete start/warmup/shutdown cycles without the fault being repeated, the CEL will shut off, but the code will stay in the ECU. So if it turns off in the next little while, it means that there was a one-time fault that occured, but the car is now fine. This can happen if something out of the ordinary happens (bad gas, high peak temperature for a brief moment, etc.)

Anyone know how exactly the safe mode works? I got the safe mode only when the CEL came on and NO other lights. Car comes out of limp mode automatically? I turned the car off and turned it back on drove around and the limp mode was gone. Is that normal? I am freaking out , what if I get a limp mode in the middle of the highway tomorrow? have official visit out of the city...pls advice anyone.....!!!!

Ok here are freeze frame data, i dont know how to save them so took a picture.
I took it to the service center and as they are not mazda expert, the work shop manual does sort of work but they dont specifically know what to check , but they did check the wires and pcm harness, i did the reset from the scanalyzer few times and it keeps coming back, what do i do. help pls guys. sucks ......maybe time for a new car??? should i replace the wires and oil pump?

That's a Metering oil pump fault.
It could be a wiring fault...or a fault with the pump itself.
If you do the diagnostic procedures you can tell if it is the wiring....
That would leave the pump.
What do you have for mods....your LTFT is 7%...you must have intake/exaust??

Also i am trying to reset the CEL from the scanalyzer, it is going off but every second start after clearing it comes back on. I guess its a constant failure of the Oil Pump?

Wires Checked , is it the MOP?????
Took the vehicle for service for 2nd time. Changed engine oil, Oil filter. Checked all connections as per workshop manual, and all seems to be in order. Vehicle still showing CEL with P1688 code. After vehicle shows the error vehicle rpm locks at 3000. But after 30 mins the vehicle is drivabale at normal speed, accelaration.
questions : Pls help if you guys can.
Now to what i understand the P1688 is an error code from the MOP circuit or switch which is inside the MOP??
If the MOP is toast then how would the engine get its lubrication, and wouldn it be showing the red oil indicator lamp which looks like aladdin's lamp?
If I change the MOP do you guys suggest changing all the wires even if the wires test shows the connections are ok?
If I get the wiring harness for the ecu to MOP would it require the whole stack of wires as shown in this attachment or just the 8 wire connections?
Do you think it could be from faulty ecu ?
I know I am asking too much questions, but pls advice as much as possible, love this car, wouldn want to loose it so fast.....
