Question Annoying Noise - Technical help

Guys, I have a 2003 japanese 8 and i ve got this problem since i bought it (4 months ago).

When its in neutral or any other speed it makes a noise and the sound of the engine is not that smooth, but when i have the clutch pressed down, it goes smooth untill i leave it again.

I can listen it more with more RPMs.

I have been told this is something in the gearbox or there is something wrong with the clutch disc.

Any ideas?

If this noise is only noticable when in neutral with the clutch engaged (i.e., pedal out), it's normal. One of the shafts in the transmission is rotating, probably on ball or roller bearings which can be very noisy. When you press the clutch pedal, disengaging the clutch, the shaft stops rotating and the noise is no longer apparent. Not to worry. Change the transmission oil to a good synthetic like Redline or Royal Purple to minimize the noise.

However, if the noise is present when driving the car in gear as I think you indicate, it is likely something else and you should have it looked at by a technician.

i have changed the gearboxs oil and its still noisy

it happens all the time even if its in idle(neutral) except if i have the clutch pedal pressed.

I am not sure, but i think it mas be something on the clutch disc.

Sounds like either "gear rollover noise", or clutch throwout bearing noise. Both of which are normal.
