Hey everyone,

Was passing a guy from a stop yesterday, shifted at 7000, the engine stuttered and i had to slow down before accelerating again. The CEL came on, flashed for about 10 seconds then went off. I havent had an issue since that even with accelerating at high RPM's.. Any ideas??? Should I take it to Mazda?

Yes, you should take it in to your dealer. Sounds like it the ignition system. A missfire problem from the Coil or Spark plug .

 

The same thing just happened to me! As soon as my car got to approx 7k rpm I experianced power loss like I deployed a parachute and the cel started to blink for about 10sec. I wanted to see if I could reproduce the problem so I did it again with exactly the same symptoms at the same rpm.

Driving while keeping the rpms below 7000rpm doesn’t cause the problem but unless it is my imagination I have noticed a slight power loss. I am taking my car to the dealer on Friday. Anyone have any insight as to what this could be? Thanks

 

Had the same thing happen to me a few weeks back. Dealer replaced the MAF sensor and it's been running fine ever since.

 

good luck i had a similar problem.......... n now im still havin a misfire at high rpms.........

Yeah, I just got the recall done including the flash a few weeks ago.

 

I have the lastest flash, recall work done, etc, etc, etc... I'm getting tired of bringing this thing to the dealer.... and its not even worth it to trade it in...no dealerships want rx-8's for some reason right now. They keep giving me lowball offers.
