The car has been running fine. Sat a few days over the holiday weekend. I got into it this morning, turned the key, starts cranking, but no start. I'm wondering if it's flooded, and if so, is there anything I can do except call for a tow to the nearest Mazda dealer? Doesn't seem likes it's firing at all.

I agree with Old Rotor. Flooding is a great place to start.

Before you tow to the Dealer, have a look at the procedure that the Mazda Dealer will do. http://www.finishlineperformance.com...5-08-1883f.pdf

Also, are you M/T or Auto? If M/T and you're on a hill, or have some folks to push your car, some have had success with the push start method of clearing flooding.

Try the de-flooding procedure in your owners manual. It may take several tries, but it should eventually work.

 

your car is covered for "no starts" for 8 years or 100k miles... tow it to the dealer and they will do it for free.... trust me i know.... i do this on a daily basis. and you'll get some new plugs....

Your mileage may vary, but when I finally did get a flood (my own fault), I found that instead of the entire procedure, simply following the step of adding some oil to each intake port resulted in a successful (albeit smoky) start.

 

it wasn't covered a few months ago now it is covered for 8 years and 100,000 miles........ like i said i know things that are put out by mazda before most of you all do..... and yes i said most.... some people have connections too...... matt sorry if you got the no start tsb done before this changed but now as in today if you go to a mazda dealer that isnt shady which alot of them are and it sux to say that bit the no start and lack of power tsbs are covered under warranty for 8 years or 100k
