My lighter fuse (15 amp blue) keeps blowing. Does any one know what causes this. I have blown 2 fuses in 2 days. Any help would be appreciated.

For instance: What do you have plugged into it? Did it blow when you were plugging/unplugging? Did it blow when you start the car?

Sory About that. It blows when the car was started up today. It didn't blow until this afternoon. It was fine this morning. It kept blowing this afternoon. Nothing really notable happened except I looked down and saw the ashtray light off and then I tried the lighter and it didn't heat up. Swapped it out and it was ok and I looked down while driving and it had blown.

 

sounds like there may be a short behind the switch somewhere.....does it blow when pushing in the lighter or just anytime driving around and u see it's blown? Anything else wired in that circuit to cause more amperage draw?

 

My lighter fuse blown out today I try to use a FM trasmitter and went out.. Even the red ring around it is out can someone help me thanks...

 

What are you plugging in...sounds like it has a short?

Or draws too much power ( not likely 15A is a lot of current)
