28 is, um... really good.. but either way, the car would be fighting against the wind regardless.

i dont like to say this, but i may have a worn engine, as that relates to lost power, which, as previously stated, i may not know if i am losing any or not, but it feels like i should have more

yes 28mpg is fantastic. Very few people have seen better mileage than I get, and that is one of them. FWIW I can easily get 21-22mpg mixed driving, and have seen 26-27mpg highway on extended trips. Alas, I can also just as easily get sub-15mpg, and that is much more fun.

Mpg varies from engine to engine but getting just 12 or so means needing a lot of repairs.

it does vary quite a bit motor to motor. but low-mid 20's highway should be no problem for a healthy motor with good maintenance, tuning and catless

mileage IS different for each engine. Not by a huge fraction, mind you. So, I don't think you have an engine with "bad luck" lol
what have you done so far as to decipher your problem?

so far changing the plugs, wires, and coils did nothing. i have a new air filter in there, as well as a cabin filter. going to clean the maf/iat sensor eventually. going to try to get it seafoamed sunday. and.. yeah, thats about it so far

i think i heard something about my 4 speed being able to spin the tires? not in mine.. at a stop in the rain, i can floor it all the way, and it wont spin or anything. now dirt and leafs on the other hand.... lol

Do you notice that any of your wheels get brake dust faster than any other wheels? I recently had a stuck rear driver side brake caliper causing premature brake wear, heat and lower than normal gas mileage.

The funny thing is cleaning the MAF Sensor is the easiest and fastest to do.

Jesus Christ soldier. Chill pill time for you.. lol
Fine, I will go to the store after work. Is there anything specific for cleaning the MAF?

Also, no, my brakes arent, uh, locked. Although the rear passenger side would squeak continuously whilst backing up, but I guess switching to new brakes fixed that

Keep in mind that you'll probably have to replace your engine anyway. 04 A\Ts had the highest engine failure rates and at your mileage i wouldn't be too surprised.
Start saving money!

thanks. And I'll keep that in mind.. Who knows, maybe mine is just on it's last strings.. Which I had already been planning for something like that in a worst case scenario

actually the worst case scenario is that they'll void my car's 8 year 100k mile warranty for it being a lemon and I'll have to DImyself. And I have an engine hoist, should help a bit

If you have reliability in mind don't do the rebuild yourself.

well actually, if its written off it might have as well saved you, cause you may get what you paid for it if not more.. and invest it into another rx8, this time a 6spd and maybe 06 or newer.. Since I stored my car for the winter and took it out, i've been getting 18mpg highway and 15mpg city, now thats down from 24mpg highway and 20 mpg city... `maybe its just the winter gas, but as soon as I get some cash, `its gonna be my plugs wires and coils.
