winter worries

winter worries

This is the first winter ive had my 8 and i was wondering if i should change the oil even though the oil is only 900 miles old.

my car has 75k miles on it i am using royal purple 10w30

i am also worried because it is acting wierd with my shifting whens its cold is that normal?

10w30 is fine for northern CA winter driving. The 10w indicates it's good down to 10 degF and you won't be anywhere near that unless driving in the mountains.

Transmission/differential fluid is a bit sluggish until it warms up. Be happy you don't live in a truly cold climate where it gets like molasses!

If I might be so bold as to dispute that... The 10w means it has a viscosity of 10 at low temperatures. It's good to lower temps. Mazda says that the various 10wXX's are suitable for ambient temps down to -20 degF.
