Why do you think the starter has gone bad?

my car had problems starting this morning, i would turn the key and nothing, did it 3 more times before it even turned over so i left it home. i tried starting it again and it did it after 6 times but the alternator read 14.5v so i ruled that out, now it wont start at all though and it just clicks when i turn the key, there is not even an engine roll over

Have you tried cleaning the battery terminals and cable connections?

Just because you have power to the lights does not mean the battery has enough amperage to turn the engine over. I would pull the battery and take it to Autozone and have them do a load test on it. Just to make sure that is not the issue.

Did you check your plugs to see if you fouled them or flooded?

I would start with the basics and the easiest...
Like Easy_E1 mentioned, remove the battery and let AutoZone test it.
Then go from there if the battery tests OK.

Yes... you are fine to switch to 5w30.
Please search with any questions oil related.
