Why so much trouble with this car???

The Troll made a mistake. What "it" meant to say was "When I read the forum, I always read the posts about problems. Those that don't talk about problem I generally ignore". This is one way people can convince themselves that the car has problems.
Perhaps we should start the following polls
1. 50 000 miles problem free driving
2. 100 000 miles problem free driving
3. 150 000 miles problem free driving
4. 200 000 miles problem free driving
In hindsight, how does one define "problem free driving"?

He's as bad as Can
One person with 100,000 miles of trouble free driving doesn't make the person on his 3rd engine feel any better. A poll will not prove anything. Another factor is the majority of RX-8 on the road are 2004. In fact there are more 04's than 05-10 combined. The first model year of any car is bound to have some problems. There are a lot of six year old RX-8's so their reliability rep will only get worse. With the steep decline of RX-8 sales there are few people to spread the word that "hey this 2009 rx-9 is great" . That said I have 139,000 miles on my 04 and didn't have to do anything major till 110,000 miles.

Unless you are calling me a moron too, you don't have to be one to have had troubles with this car. I've had 3 engines replaced, 4 cats, 2 fuel pumps and transmission rebuilt (@ 12k mi. & it needs work again). I've owned cars for over 35 yrs and never had problems with any that can come close to the problems I've had with this one. The only reason I put up with it is cause it is also the best car I have ever had.
Cuz My engine died, but thats due to Mazda's crappy oil weight + garbage OMP rate + I did not premix from the start.
New Engine is in, Tranny works fine (and I shift it like nutz),I replaced the fuel pump once for fun(the old one still works), so ... Im ok
Sucks to be you :P

Your car will have problems if you listen to the crap on this forum. My 2004 MT is now over 82,800 miles on the original engine without much maintenance other than oil changes and adding oil. If you listen to the stupid advice here, your car will breakdown!!! Here you read stuff like premix (I have never done this), redline once a day (I have never ever even crossed 6500 rpm), and other ****. If you drive like a normal car, occassionally go over 100 in 6th (not race engine all the time), change gears between 3000 and 4000 rpm and kjust enjoy the handling, the car is fine. Its idiots who try redlining in 2nd or 3rd, pre-mix like its a ******* motor cycle and take off at high speed before the engine is warm and then come here and post about their 3rd and 4th engine, screwed up transmission and the like.
