why does my oil light keep coming on?

even though i have plenty oil? i usually keep it half way b/tw full and empty, which is a quart above empty. ive had at laest five occations where the light comes on even though im fine. the car is always warm and it always seems to happen when im stopped or stopping. itll often happen as im getting to my destination, and when i come back i check it, its fine and the light is off when i start it up. i took it in but they really didnt do anything

Have you had the oil pan replaced per the TSB?

There is also a reflash to address this issue.

Right... the 'N' Flash fixes that, assuming you don't have the really old oil pan design (which was only a problem at high speed driving IIRC). In fact, that exact symptom was how I convinced my dealer to do the 'N' Flash for me.

Check the oil level sensor connector on the drivers side of the pan. Could be loose. You can reach it from the drivers side after raising the car a bit. Jiggle the wiring and connector.

just go to the dealership and have them order a new oil pan and replace it...fixed my oil light issue (they just can't ge tteh sensor since it's on the oil pan the only order them together)..plus side is it's under warrenty :D

oil should always be topped off to full, and get the new oil pan installed.

that should solve this oil light issue for good.

adding oil wont fix it as the lights gone off when its been all the way to full as well. once the car is turned off the problem goes away for at least a few days, if not weeks

sound like one of those "oilpan is half full/half empty" kind of situations

yeah, just take it in and tell them about your issue, they should pull up the TSB without you even mentioning it (and I wouldn't mention it unless you get some lame excuse about they can't find anything wrong)

likely they'll either replace the pan or order one in per the TSB since it's a fairly well known item now.
