Wheeling spassing out....

Question Wheeling spassing out....

So sometimes when I'm driving or backing up or just turning the wheel it like spasses out or locks up. I heard that it has to do with the rack or something...Any one got any ideas or a way to help me fix it... I mean I dont know much about cars this is my first car, I'm more of a big truck girl...so this is new to me...

Uh we have electricc steering to begin with.....anyway give us some info....what year? Miles? MT? AT?

Could be a bad connection at the battery poles - the steering take about 50 amps and if it gets a low voltage it can shut down.

Grab the wires and connectors at the battery and yank/twist 'em - if they move AT ALL that's your problem.

Its def not the battary...the connection is def good there. I was told it could possible be the rack but i know nothing about that. But from what i hear its a pretty expencive thing and veryyyy important that i take care of it soon because the wheel could just lock up on me while driving...

Beneath the tray that is under the air filter box, there are a couple of connectors that control and power the steering rack. Unplug and reinsert these into their connectors. Sometimes they just get a bad connection and this fixes the problem.
Thats a lot of miles on that car. I don't have 50,000 yet.

Ill have to try that next. I realllly dont want to have to buy a new rack or any of that so thanks for the info!!! keep it coming anything will help right about now!!!...



and yea i know thats a lot of miles....Ive only put like 5k on it....i just wanted the car so badly that i got it even though it had 140. lol...i love my car even when its pissin me off...but dont we all?! i was talking with my boyfriend and he was like i bet youve got the most miles on your 8 then anyone on your board...lol...

Does it only do it when it's going slow? I had a problem similar to that, only it would pull sideways instead of locking up, but my problem was the brake calipers sticking.

Nope it happens a lot when im backing out of my parking spots/drive way like when the wheel is turned slightly...and when i noticed when i try making a right turn it happens more then when im making a left. its really weird...like the whole wheel starts shaking and sometimes when im turning it just gets realllly tight... i dont understand it at all
