Question Wheeling spassing out....

So sometimes when I'm driving or backing up or just turning the wheel it like spasses out or locks up. I heard that it has to do with the rack or something...Any one got any ideas or a way to help me fix it... I mean I dont know much about cars this is my first car, I'm more of a big truck girl...so this is new to me...

Could be a bad connection at the battery poles - the steering take about 50 amps and if it gets a low voltage it can shut down.

Grab the wires and connectors at the battery and yank/twist 'em - if they move AT ALL that's your problem.

Its def not the battary...the connection is def good there. I was told it could possible be the rack but i know nothing about that. But from what i hear its a pretty expencive thing and veryyyy important that i take care of it soon because the wheel could just lock up on me while driving...

Beneath the tray that is under the air filter box, there are a couple of connectors that control and power the steering rack. Unplug and reinsert these into their connectors. Sometimes they just get a bad connection and this fixes the problem.
Thats a lot of miles on that car. I don't have 50,000 yet.

Does it only do it when it's going slow? I had a problem similar to that, only it would pull sideways instead of locking up, but my problem was the brake calipers sticking.
