Wheel bearing question

Will older model wheel bearings fit on the newest model 8? I assume as long as it is newer than 2007 and has a TPMS senser it should work because the wheel studs are the same and everything else seems to be the same on the different models. Parts stores don't have any on stock and said they couldn't order any.

You are talking Wheels Bearings ? or wheels?..

If it is bearings...

There are no changes to the REAR Wheel Bearings on ANY RX-8.

But, the FRONT wheel bearings are not listed??!!, it appears you may have to buy the hub to get the bearings, ( I am having that confirmed), if that is the case the FRONT HUBS are Different in the 09 model.

Some how I think you are talking Alloy WHEELS and Tires, I can't see why the 18 inch will not fit on a any model RX-8, as they are all 5 stud with the same offset. AFAIK.

Just had this confirmed that FRONT Wheel Bearings are only available in the HUB Assy...
in the US they retail for $225 each, and as I said are different to 09's.

Rear wheel bearings are the same for all RX-8's

Yea I am talking about the front bearing. I took it apart after my post and noticed it doesn't look like it comes out of the hub assembly. That is what I need, the bearing and the complete hub assembly.

Are there any good OEM parts dealers out there? I know a 09 will be hard to find, except at the dealer, but I would like to keep the costs low. Autozone couldn't even look the part up, let alone get me one.

Thanks for the information and confirming for me.

From what I can tell MazMart has a limited selection of parts in their store.

Can you repair/open/tighten the front wheel hub at all? I'm having a hard time finding a part number or place to order. I can get older versions, which really don't look all that different. My only guess is the DSC on the back is different.

OK, ALL Miata's/MX-5's have the same set up as the RX-8...

Here are the part numbers (same for left or right)..

F189-33-04X Series II 09 RX-8
F151-33-04X All Series I RX-8

So you can get it ordered in...use a Mazda dealer....quote the 09 F189 Part Number, MNAO Parts Or whatever the Dealer Parts distributor Calls themselves should have it in stock for an 09, we have them in Australia.

To answer your question, NO they are not interchangeable with the Series I RX-8..

yank the bearing out & replace it. there's no way it's cast into the hub, so it has to be replaceable, somehow. just takes some ingenuity.

So what bearings are you going to replace it with, what size?, what if you damage the hub oil seal?...Advice like yours can be misleading...

Thanks for the great information. I was able to email MazMart and they are ordering the part for me, plus way cheaper then I've found.

Good news...

If you don't mind me asking why do you need to replace the front wheel bearings/hub assy on an 09 RX-8?

If it is defective (extremely rare) would this not be covered under Mazda factory warranty?
