Good God ,,,thats what that darn thing is for? This is my second RX-8 and now I feel twice as stupid (like the rest of you). I'm always pulling my drivers side floor mat back out from under the left foot rest.
Sheesh, I guess I am a member of the what the hell is that thingy club.
Now all I have to do is install it when the car comes back from the bodyshop.
Bless you for informing us.

My ID disappeared into that slit as I was pulling up to the gate guard one morning. He absolutely wouldn't let me through; so I chewed up a few minutes of his time and pissed off everyone behind me while I got it out. I did, however, find an easy way to get it out: fold the visor down, release it from it's clip, pulling it towards you a little. With one hand on each side, swat it back and forth rapidly while squinting; it'll come flying outta there right towards your face!
Oh, ya... By the way... What else is there to adjust besides the position of the rearview mirror?!?

their just talking about how the rearview has 2 pivot points on the bar that attaches it to the windshield. One at the mirror and one at the windshield. Was stated above.
When I found this out i almost jumped for joy. My g/f has a 99 m3 and its rearview is directly in my line of sight. In this car, you can push it all the way up to the ceiling to get it out of the way.
