What does EVAP emission do? And what happen if you get a reading of EVAP emission control sytem leak very small?

 

I believe it is gas cap that has gone bad or is not tightened properly. I could be wrong. Evaporative emissions system prevents gasoline vapors from being vented into the atmosphere.

The system is a canister and carbon filter, but the code is usually triggered by a loose or leaky gascap, as Socket says.

Clean the rim and tighten it down good, it may go away in two or three 'drive cycles'.

Would the small leak from the EVAP would hurt the engine if does not get fix soon, and what else could it be if it is not your gas cap?

 

depends on your evap code your getting but if the gas cap doesnt fix it then the next common item that needs replacement is the evap purge valve
