Well, my water pump failed.

Looks as if the seals in my water pump failed, causing my car to **** coolant alll down the road.

45,000 miles, seems rather early for the pump to go, but thats life.

Mazda is replacing it all under warentee.... Just wanted to give anyone a heads up if they start smelling coolant when driving....I was lucky enough to have it majorly fail when I was coming to a stop.

Sometimes things just go at the right moment. Funny it didn't start leaking a little prior to catastrophic failure. Got lucky.

My car is at 68000 kms 2003 JDM 6MT . Have just started to get a few drops on the floor .

Drove the car up onmto some ramps & there is signs of seepage from the hole in the water pump casting .

S**t - I suppose that means I need a new pump .......

I did take a pic but there is so much stuff under there that it is really hard to get a clear shot of the pump .
Just look where the rad hoses go to the engine - that is the water pump . You need to climb under the car to see the hole at the bottom of the pump casting .

Anyone know the correct part no. for the pump ? I'm tring to get one through DPE but he is saying there are 4 different nos for the RX8 ?
