Very Light Clutch Pedal
Hey Gang,
So we're revisiting this issue. Keep in mind I posted about this a year ago when I first got the car but everyone said it was normal..just bleed the clutch.
Long story short..everyone else's clutch pedal is insanely stiffer compared to mine. I'm talking..their stuff is stock, and mine was stock and now everything is changed. Since before, I've gotten
-Whole new Transmission from Mazda
-ACT Street Performance Clutch Disc
-ACT Heavy Duty Pressure Plate
-ACT ProLite Flywheel
-RedLine MT 90 Fluid
-BHR Reinforced Pedal Bracket
-Super Blue Brake/Clutch Fluid and Flush
Even after all this..The clutch pedal is very light. This weekend I'm planning to flush it again and install a stainless steel clutch line, but I'm not sure if that will help. It's not that the engagement point is moving, it's just..the pedal is very light. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?
What's interesting is that my dealership said my old transmission seemed to be suffering from gears not fully engaging or disengaging. I've put 500 miles now on the new clutch and tranny and it still feels light..That being said, I really don't want to start ruining this transmission like the last started getting ruined.
The old clutch disc has about 50% life left and didn't really show signs of abuse or anything bad..Looked normal wear and tear. But the old transmission had 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th gears syncros going, with 4th gear pretty much gone. If anyone has ANY ideas this would be great, because I'd really like to get this covered and not damage my new transmission and clutch and all that over time..Thanks team.

why are you complaining about a light clutch pedal?
it makes shifting a breeze. heavy clutches take the fun out of driving.
as long as your transmission is shifting properly, i dont see a problem. in fact, im jealous.
take your 8 to a drag strip, or a "privately owned straight stretch of road" and launch it and go through the gears till after you shif to 4th.
if you can shift fine and you go through the gears quickly..
whats the problem?

Not at all, I guess I just want to make sure it's not abnormal, you know? Because it's a heavier pressure plate and all, brand new tranny and everything and it still feels as light as it did before, you know? Shifting feels fine, just notchy..but I'm sure that is because it's a new transmission. Like I can feel the gears engaging. But I dunno..if you guys are saying it's normal, then I guess I'm wondering why the other 5 stock RX8's I've sat in feel much firmer..I mean wouldn't you be curious if you felt that and you had 5 others to compare to?

Yeah good point. I'm going to actually flush it tomorrow, put in a stainless steel clutch line with some Super Blue and see if it makes a difference. I'll let you guys know tomorrow. Thanks anyways for the suggestions.
