i am almost done with my first run of the GC0w30, gunna run another interval and send the 2nd one in for analysis just to see how she compares to the tried and true m1 uoa's

Yeah Mobil1 0W-40, not sure why it is not on the report.
I should have a GC 0W-30 report here somewhere. It didn't do that well considering how much hype it got. IIRC it had VS in the 8's.

It didn't do bad at all really but what struck me is that it was only a 1500 mile sample and it was already way below what my Mobil1 0W-40 gets too after 3,000 miles. I was expecting more after hearing people rave about it for so long.
You seem to have an air leak of some kind for the last 4 years.
Mobil 1 0w40 has silicon for anti foam of approx 4 ppm plus normal limit of added dirt 12-13 ppm, so anything higher than 16 ppm is not good.
I saw a Cayman that ran this 0w40 for 7400 miles with approx 4ppm.

well this sample is from after my tune was done and everything is running pretty well. I'm not sure what up with the high wear metals for such low mileage, we shall see, I will send another sample next oil change.

Hey, 9krpm, you might know I'd show up to a UOA discussion.
I've noticed all your UOA's have high silicone even with different engines.
I live in dust bowl, run oil for 5k miles and have approx 10ppm silicone running the same Mobil 1 0w40 which is close to virgin specs (7ppm).
30ppm seems like a lot of dirt, so I'd check the filtration or leak around it.
OEM filter?

Darrel, I wish I could run a OEM filter with the Turbo setup, but I am running a filter we had made, it's a high flow (less filtration) cone filter that uses a synthetic fiber filter material. Before that I was running a WIX oem paper filter. Something to consider though.
I've been doing business with them for years, but I go to O'Reilly's for Lucas semi-syn 2 stroke.
Doing my change to Mobil1 soon, and I'm thinking about doing this analysis with my old oil (Castrol 5w-20). Did my first change before I formulated my opinion on it.

Do you guys send out oil, after every oil change?
Just did my 500 mile break in oil change, I think I will wait untill my 2500 nominal change before I send some in.
Also do you guys just do the standard analysis or add on extra testing (if so what's good things to test for)
Lastly what is the sample size you send.

Standard is good enough unless you suspect an issue.
Every oil change is a bit much, maybe every 3 or 4.
Dont send in the oil sample from a recent swap to new oil, the results will be skewed since there will be some of the old oil in the system. (i.e. if you just switched from 5w-30 to M1 0w-40, wait about 2 oil changes before sending a sample in)
And they send you the sample containers (free) so I just fill that up.

Considering I only manage enough miles to do 2 oil changes a season I figured I'll just send in those 2 for sampling. Next one is in 2,000 miles. I might not even manage that by the end of september.

Generally you want to take your sample mid stream during a change. Taking it from a container may be a problem if you don't clean out your container. I generally only test my oil every 2-3 oil changes.
Yeah, I have one of those 5 gallon drums with the extendable filler neck I use, I empty it when its full so its mixed with a ton of different fluids. Would not be a good idea to grab a sample out of.

The extra testing is for TBN which tells you if the oil is about to go too acid. If you run something like a 0w40 you'll barely lower the TBN which is more for extended 10k+ oil drains so I don't bother on my 5k mile drain RX8.
Compared to hot running German engines, RX8's are easy on oil; it just turns black and looks dirty.
AFAIK, oil testing should be after break in to test for 3 things: Coolant leak, air intake leak breathing extra dirt, and fuel in oil.
Sometimes the report is so good you can infer the oil is working right and the drain interval is right. Other times you can't tell.
I can change oil for the oil report cost so I just send in sample about every 2nd oil change.
