UPDATE - 4th Gear Grind -vs- Dealer

Sooo....like other folks I have had consistent 4th gear problems with my 05. I have posted about it already....(4th gear grinds at high rpms - over 8k....19k miles on the car now.)

Well I took it in to the dealer and had them "shuttle" me to work. Took all day but they finally called me back. The service manager had been o nthe phone with the Mazda people and they told him to check a bunch of ****. Well...they told me that the transmission had some "crap" oil in it. I quote" Some thin stuff...looked like someone used synthetic in it."

I just bought the car from a dealer in DE...so I didnt see where this was an issue really. They drained the oil and put "Mazda spec" tranny fluid in...

WELL....long story short...the gears feel tighter. I dont know how to explain this but...when the synthetic was in the car...the gears moved around easier..but felt more "loose" and fluid. The new oil makes the gears a little "tighter" "stiff". I dont mind it....but the gear STILL grinds.

I called them back and he told me that the plan was...if it didnt work...then I drive it around for a while to let the new oil get (my translation) all up ins.

500 miles to be exact. When I bring it back and its still fucked up they are going to replace the tranny. Sigh...

Wow, thats dumb, they probably used some friction modifier to make it feel tight.

Long story short is that it doesn't matter what oil you use as long as its 75w90, the syncros are still shot.

Exactly...The service manager agrees...he just has to do what Mazda tells him to do before they pay for it. Wasting my time is another thing.

They need to fired whoever is working at the Mazda Tech Line.

To me, they said that my clutch could be the cause of my clutch bracket failure. I was like WOW. what a load of bullshit. Mazda really gotta hire some people with a better degree than Junior high school.
