thanks for all the great input guys . . . I was just wondering why turning it off made the 8 seem like it had more power . . now I understand . . turning tcs off take the power limit off.

Switching of the DSC will NOT give you more power. DSC only take back the engine throttle or brake down one or more wheels only in case of loosing grip on the road! Only for dyn-testings it is recommed that you switch off the DSC, because only the rear wheels are running on the dyno.

If you want to have fun and KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING (!!!) you can switch it off for drifting. Be careful with this ! I think a lot of Rx8's had accidents because stupid people switched off the DSC and were not able to control this baby.

Is a code logged in the ECU when you do the 10 second disable? I would hate to think of what your insuarance company would do if they see that you had turned off the DSC prior to getting in an accident.

 

i have heard the it triggers an error in the pcm.

 

DSC (just like ABS) is a tool. People build houses in differant ways.
It may interfer some with a hard launch, but it is a good tool to have at the track(which is not about hard launch's) This car is tight and once it goes --it goes. I grew up with muscle cars etc, i really never learned how to drive FWD cars. RWD cars can be controlled somewhat with the throttle but this engine doesnt have the torque you need to do this on dry pavement. Take my advice unless you are dragging (on a track hopefully) leave the dsc on. It can save you butt. And remember it only takes one time to really mess you, your car or someone else up!
