Trailing Plug Issue, hole almost capped over

Changed the plugs today after 40,000 miles. Got new coils and wires too.

They were dirty, as expected, but I got a real surprise looking down the bores for the trailing plugs. The tan crap that coats the end of the plug had formed a bridge over the end of the hole with only a small, 1/8th inch or so, opening in the center. I cannot confirm if the the thing was completely capped up until I pulled the plug out. The material was hard. You could see through the hole, and I was able to see the end of the apex seal through the hole.

I put a little bit of lucas cylinder lubricant in (no sea foam) and put it all back together. Car seems really happy, but I will know more after a drive to work tomorrow.

Anyone ever seen or heard of this before? I thought about cranking the engine with the trailing plugs out, but was not sure what trying to blast that stuff out of there would do to the threads, or what the fire would do to the engine compartment.

Thoughts?

Does the bridging and the hole resemble the picture in post #3 of this thread?

That one of olddragger's technical concept threads actually had a useful outcome is more than enough reward for all of us.

More likely to see Denny than Ken. Beer for Denny, more for Ken later.

Denny deserves one more than I do. The answer was in his thread. His threads are always worth reading.
