Thumping Noise Coming from rear..

Hey guys.. i've been browsing this forum for few months now but never really posted.. I must say this forum has been a great help.. Anyway, lets get onto the problem few problems i'm having here..

I have an 04 6spd and mostly every time i put the car into 1st gear, i hear and feel a "thump" coming from my rear end.. now i remember my FD did that when i had it but i don't know if it's normal on this car.. It's not very drastic or anything but i have a feeling this is not normal.. It does it about 80-90% of the time. Also, another thing i have been starting to notice is that whenever i downshift (say from 3rd to 2nd gear) i feel my shifter slightly vibrates for a couple of seconds before going into gear.. it's hard to explain but there is definitely a quick vibration that is felt through the car (not a grinding like a synchro).. It almost feels like its a hesitation to get into gear through the shifter... Sorry i cant explain it any better than that.. lol.. My last problem is that the idle on my car sometimes drops to about 500 when sitting at a red light and then quickly sets back to about 700... is this normal?

I hope nothing major is going on here.. My car is completely stock and all re-calls have been done... And yes i did use the search button before posting but couldn't really find anything that matched my problems..

Thanks in advance..

Welcome to the forum!
The small thud going into first is normal but it comes from the transmission not the rear end... The only other thud comes from the ABS self test as you first start rolling after start-up.
I've not noticed any shifter behaviour like yours but vibration is fairly normal. You could have the motor mount issue??
I've seen an RPM drop at stoplights on occasion but it recovers quickly and doesn't stall.

Yea i thought it was the tranny but for some reason it really sounds like its coming from the rear end..

Also, i've heard that when the motor mounts are shot that there would be a rough idle. Now, my idle is not rough at all.. u can feel it slightly and my shifter vibrates slightly also which is normal. So i dont know if its the motor mounts or not..

Oh - another idea , try bleeding your clutch . You may not have your clutch completely disenguaging . I have had a thump & thats what it was .
Ruled out the dog very early on as I don't have one .
