Tansmission switch!!!

Hey guys i recently installed an RP midpipe and about month later i had a CEL it turn out that the CEL was for my crankshaft position sensor being kicked of whack..however they told me that when they looked under my car they noticed i change my midpipe and that the midpipe i installted is giving off so much heat its burning my O2 sensor and wire as well as my transmission switch. They recommended I stop driving and replace my stock cat!!! I instantly put some wire lube in an attempt to prevent any heat that can cause damage turns out they arent that heat resistant. has anyone else experience this problem???

ok,

there is some correct theory here, but wire lube?????

all in all. i would route the wires away from the heat source...

There is far more to this story than the author is telling. I had my midpipe on my car for two years straight and never had this kind of problem.

yea i meant transmission..my bad typo..and yes i used wire lube silly i know.. yes the deal told me about this issue...but i had to try something..as far as the story thats the truth...today i bought some of that thermal wrap for exhaust i saw in discount auto and tried to cover the wires...hopefully that works. As for routing the wires away from the heat source that is a great idea. But i'm not to confident in splicing those wire especially since the " transmission switch" is direct too the left of the midpipe..so even if i route it away it still has to go there =/

are you sure it was not you neutral pos sensor?? those have been a bit problematic. mine acts up every now and then... btw, ~ 10k miles with a midpipe, and over 30k miles with a uncovered high flow cat.

i'm positive he said it was my transmission switch i have never heard of that switch before =/ i know that when i looked under my car i saw the o2 sensor he talked about and a round plug looking thing with a wire attached coming out of my transmission. And those were the two things closes to my midpipe and the only two wires he could be talking about i'm just a lil concerned especially since he said i shouldnt drive because my car because it can cause severe damage...

Do the wires look damaged at all?

Are they hanging in any abnormail way? They should be running pretty much up the spine of the transmission, over the bell housing and into the engine compartment.

Static is right and the switch might be the one for the reverse lights. I remember 4 small plugs that I had to mark to make sure they went back in the same locations, but I accessed them from the driver's side of the car. A pair of white plugs and a pair of black plugs. Since they were interchangeable within their respective colors that leads me to think that they are for simple switches and not for the output shaft sensor. I'd look in the SM but I am too lazy right now.

the switch is direct to the left of the cat and the wire runs down the tranny then up into the engine compartment like static said..they do look a little like melted plastic. I keep checking it since i'm affraid to damage my car and it doesnt seem to be getting worst but then again i didnt know there was a problem in the first place. is it a good idea to pull my midpipe out and wrap it in that thermal wrap they sell??? i'm not sure since the wrap will create excessive heat in the exhaust

The pairs are for the neutral position and reverse lights. Where the vehicle picks up the speed sensor, I don't know.
